Full-Time Boom Epic...at least for now!

Hey there!
-
It's a desperate cliché, but the fact is it's true:
You never know what tomorrow's going to bring.
-
Ryan unexpectedly has two weeks of from his day job, which means full-time Boom Epic! Woohoo!
-
(This also means Ryan's open mic will be on hold for a couple weeks. If you want to contact him to find out when it will be starting up again, you can email him here)
-
Hopefully this means we'll finally be able to get the new Boom Epic songs up.
-
After stressing out a little too much about the recording details (here or there, this way or that), we've decided to keep it simple and start by recording some of our practice sessions. This way we won't have to worry about the technicalities (better left to a pro...or at least not me) and we can just concentrate on recording what it is that we do each week, and now each and every day! Um...playing music that is.

Lost and Found

If you remember, we lost our little recorder. It was hugely frustrating since we knew it couldn't have wandered far. Low and behold, today Ryan found it buried in the cushions of a chair.
-
It's going to be interesting to see what's on there.

When you listen to music, do you...

* Care about the band?
-
* Relate to the band?
-
* Feel like you could be friends with the band?
-
* Pay attention to the song lyrics?
-
* Visit the band's website? Blog? Twitter? Facebook? Or just their Myspace?
-
* Go to the live shows?
-
* Buy the band's merch?
-
* Dress like the band?
-
* Pay attention to the band's politics?
-
* Follow the band's other projects?
-
I was just wondering.

Little Olympus Recorder...Gone!

Our little Olympus recorder is gone! And despite regularly saving the files on my computer, there were still quite a few on there that weren't saved.
-
Ugh! It's somewhere around here...it has to be!
-
But where?!?!

Pondering Polaris 2009

Spent a little time last night watching (and not for the first time) the 2009 Polaris Music Prize special which was mainly performances from the awesome group of bands/musicians that were nominated.
-
It was definitely nice to see the amazing range of talent Canada has to offer as well as consider who was most deserving and, in turn, each nominees' possibility of winning (which was of course revealed at the end of the special if you don't already know who won).
-
Check out this clip of the night's events:
